TIME for TNR

We need to buy some time...

TNR is great, but we need a chance to do it.

What is TNR?     Trap the strays

                              Neuter and vaccinate them

Release them back to their outdoor homes

A bonus of TNR is that some really nice kitties are found outside and they warm up to people, after being trapped, and they can end up with a better life, adopted into a real home! Also, many cats are found with medical needs that are treated at TNR time. They go back to their outdoor home areas, in better shape than ever.

TNR involves many volunteers, who sit in their cars for hours - in the dark, in the heat, in the cold, in the rain - trying not to move or make a sound because it might scare off a nervous cat that is hesitant to get in a trap, for its trip to the clinic. There are far too few people willing to do this for the millions of strays that need to be fixed and vaccinated and there is far too little money to pay for the surgeries and vaccinations. The wait for a TNR appointment at a low-cost clinic can be two or three months. By the time that appointment date arrives, kittens have already been born.

TNR has not stopped the flow of kitten births. The flood has to stop first. Then funds and volunteer efforts can be directed to TNR, to permanently stop the accidental pregnancies and do the vaccinations and provide the additional medical care that is often needed.
